Kevin E. Buick
Kevin E. Buick has practiced law in the DeKalb County community for over twenty years, returning to the area in the late 1980’s after spending a portion of his childhood in DeKalb and Waterman. He grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago before moving to the State of Colorado in 1979. His years in Colorado involved living in the ski resort communities of Vail and Avon/Beaver Creek, spending college summers working on the family’s ranch near Silt, and traversing the more metropolitan cities of Colorado Springs and Boulder. He now lives in Sycamore, Illinois and is very proud to have set down roots in a home town that he feels qualified to compare favorably with the diverse and world class communities he has left behind.
Mr. Buick began his general practice of law representing clients engaged in civil litigation, real estate, wills and trusts, probate administration, banking and business matters. However, in 1996 he became the Village Attorney for Kingston, Illinois, which sparked an interest in municipal law, zoning, and planning issues which he has emphasized since. Presently he advises numerous municipal entities as set forth below in addition to his general practice work. He is also developing an appellate practice, and is well recognized for his effective brief writing and oral advocacy in this arena.
Mr. Buick is thoroughly involved in charitable and community-oriented affairs. He prides himself on his ability to work closely with his clients to most fully serve their particular needs, and serves a diverse and loyal clientele. He does find time to pursue lifelong avocational interests in sports, history, and trivia. The psychic marks of his unfortunate allegiance to the Chicago Cubs are manifest, but hope springs eternal. In fact, the resurgence of hockey in Chicago has recently brought particular joy to Mr. Buick (a hockey player as a youth), with the Blackhawks’ Stanley Cup triumph in 2010 healing wounds inflicted by the Montreal Canadiens in 1971 when he was a naïve seven year old, expecting a championship for his beloved team. He now patiently waits for the Cubs, and his alma mater Colorado Buffaloes, to follow suit -- although intervening life experience has taught the harsh lesson that this wait will not be brief.
Mr. Buick previously contributed columns on a regular basis for Shaw Suburban Media’s Northern Illinois Business Connections publication, which are archived on his personal website and which may be accessed at the following link:
